That Lucky Duck!

Today’s Feast

Sept. 20, 2015 – Joshua 16

That Lucky Duck!

Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given the early rain for your vindication; he has poured down for you abundant rain, the early and the latter rain, as before. Joel 02:23 English Standard Version (ESV)

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast in Joshua, Chapter 16; “The sons of Joseph.

– This and the following chapter should not be separated. They give the lots of Ephraim and Manasseh, the children of Joseph, who, next to Judah, were to have the post of honour, and therefore had the first and best portion in the northern part of Canaan, as Judah in the southern part. God’s people now, as of old, suffer his enemies to remain. Blessed Lord, when will all ( 1 Corinthians. 15:26 ) thou alone canst do it. These settled boundaries may remind us, that our situation and provision in this life, as well as our future inheritance, are appointed by the only wise and righteous God, and we should be content with our portion, since he knows what is best for us, and all we have is more than we deserve.Matthew Henry Concise.

Today we see the boundaries of the lands as they were allotted to the people of Joseph. God is giving each tribe their allotment. “The allotment of the people of Joseph went from the Jordan by Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho, into the wilderness, going up from Jericho into the hill country to Bethel. 2 Then going from Bethel to Luz, it passes along to Ataroth, the territory of the Archites. 3 Then it goes down westward to the territory of the Japhletites, as far as the territory of Lower Beth-horon, then to Gezer, and it ends at the sea.Joshua 16:1-3, ESV. Do you think that the tribes are content with their allotment. Are their neighbors truly happy for them? When we can be truly content in our life, then we can truly happy for our brother. We get a peak early in the creation at the pain Satan can inflict when a person is not content with God’s blessings in their life. Because Cain did not do well with his offering to God, he couldn’t be happy for Abel when God accepted his offering. 5 but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell. 6 The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.”Genesis 4:5-7, ESV. Cain failed in his attempt to please God. He could have made it right and been content in his relationship with God. We see what happened because he didn’t do well he killed his brother. Have you ever had a friend or relative get a good gift? Look inside of yourself and see if you were truly happy for them. It’s in our nature to say that’s great, while inside we think to ourselves; “That lucky duck, that should have been me!” Saint’s what we need to do strive to please God. When we are content in our relationship with Jesus, then we can be truly happy when others receive a blessing. The apostle Paul, whose, example we need to follow said it well. “10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.Philippians 4:10-12, ESV. This came from his heart, he learned to be content no matter what his physical situation was. That’s because his relationship with Jesus was spot on! Take your relationship with Jesus all the way to the top. “For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation.Psalm 149:4, ESV. We are continuing to keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of Jesus.

I send the Feast out as the Holy Spirit inspires me. If the Lord Is willing I’ll send and post the Feast again tomorrow.

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast in Joshua, Chapter 15; “The borders of the lot of Judah. (1-12) Caleb’s portion, His daughter’s blessing. (13-19) The cities of Judah. (20-63)Matthew Henry Concise.

These were the boundaries of the lands as they were divided to the tribe of Judah. Do you see how God was blessing Joshua and all the tribes of Israel? He didn’t forget about anyone. “1 The allotment for the tribe of the people of Judah according to their clans reached southward to the boundary of Edom, to the wilderness of Zin at the farthest south.Joshua 15:1, ESV. Can you imagine what kind of faith they had as they took the land that God himself divided for his people. I mean they had to move forward taking the land for each tribe. Some of them were probably wondering if God would forget them. They may have wondered if God would treat each tribe equally. In the end they saw that God did not forget about one of his people. What do you think God thinks of you? Will he treat you as well as the other saints? God has called you to the harvest. Maybe you worked longer than some of the others God called. Whatever you expect of God he will never forget or forsake you. “5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?Hebrews 13:5-6, ESV. Just to clarify that sets straight with what Jesus said was the greatest commandment; “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind”. If you wholly follow Jesus then he shall be true to give you your full inheritance. We are not hearers of the Word only. We are doers of the word following our savior in actions as well as words. He left instructions for every believer until the end of time. You are an important part of this mission if you should decide to accept it; “18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”Matthew 28:18-20, ESV. This is a message that will never self destruct. We do not seek the accolades of men, keep your eyes on Jesus. ““For the LORD is our judge; the LORD is our lawgiver; the LORD is our king; he will save us.Isaiah 33:22, ESV. Let’s continue to keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of Jesus.

I send the Feast out as the Holy Spirit inspires me. If the Lord Is willing I’ll send and post the Feast again tomorrow.

Is Jesus knocking at your door? Are you ready to answer God’s call? If the answer is yes; today is the day of your salvation! Don’t wait another minute to leave, change or quit anything (see Revelation 3:20) Jesus is at knocking at your door this minute. He wants you to come just as you are, surrendering all! Will you answer Him today? Do you want to find true happiness, peace and purpose in your life? If the answer is yes to any of these questions please click the following link; admenu.com/calling.html

Truth Steeped In Love!

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast in Joshua, Chapter 14; “The nine tribes and a half to have their inheritance. (1-5) Caleb obtains Hebron. (6-15)Matthew Henry Concise.

These were times that tested man’s faith. Do you see why God was blessing Joshua and all the tribes of Israel? “9 And Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land on which your foot has trodden shall be an inheritance for you and your children forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.’Joshua 14:9, ESV. I must say again; “They believed God, and God blessed them.” We see their faith in their walk, they went into battle where and how the Lord commanded. Are we willing to wholly follow God? God will know by our actions not merely our words. How will you fulfill God’s purpose for yourselves? Your faith will be revealed by your actions. “19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar?James 2:19-21, ESV. God’s Word is clear when it says our faith is shown by our works. If we truly love God our actions will truly outweigh our words. As we can see by the reference above to the demons just believing is not enough. If you wholly follow Jesus then he shall be true to give you your full inheritance. “22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.James 1:22-25, ESV. God’s Word is truth steeped in love for his creation. If you truly want to walk with our Lord keep your eyes on Jesus. “160 The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.Psalm 119:160, ESV. Let’s continue to keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of Jesus.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue the Feast reading Joshua, Chapter 13; “Bounds of the land not yet conquered. (1-6) Inheritance of Reuben. (7-33)Matthew Henry Concise.

This is where we read about the best inheritance of all. The Levites are blessed with the best the inheritance Lord God of Israel is their inheritance;32 These are the inheritances that Moses distributed in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan east of Jericho. 33 But to the tribe of Levi Moses gave no inheritance; the Lord God of Israel is their inheritance, just as he said to them.Joshua 13:32-33, ESV. The love of our Lord Jesus Christ is to be cherished above all the treasures of the world; 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”, Matthew 16:26, ESV. Once again Saint; God makes this promise to you; “5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”Hebrews 13:5, ESV. Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast reading Joshua, Chapter 11; “Divers kings overcome at the waters of Merom. (1-9) Hazor is taken and burned. (10-14) All that country subdued, The Anakims cut off. (15-23)Matthew Henry Concise.

Joshua and the army are following God into battle. The odds at times have been turned against them (see Joshua 7:10-12) due to the actions of men. However because they believed God he forgave them and the occupation of the new land moved forward. Most of the times it looked like the odds were against them, but because they had faith they did as God commanded. “6 And the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for tomorrow at this time I will give over all of them, slain, to Israel. You shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.”7 So Joshua and all his warriors came suddenly against them by the waters of Merom and fell upon them.8 And the Lord gave them into the hand of Israel, who struck them and chased them as far as Great Sidon and Misrephoth-maim, and eastward as far as the Valley of Mizpeh. And they struck them until he left none remaining.9 And Joshua did to them just as the Lord said to him: he hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots with fire.Joshua 11:6-9, English Standard Version (ESV). They believed God, and God blessed them. You and I are involved in a battle today. Though our battle may appear physical in nature it’s not. The enemy hates God, God loves us, so the enemy will attack us on any front possible. Look saints you know God gave us a commission. Because we all have a personal relationship with Jesus, we all have a mission. Now Satan may attack a loved one or else our health. He may do this so our spirits fall and we loose site of our mission. He hates God so much that he will do whatever it takes to scuttle our faith. God has given us written instruction that will prepare us to stand in this battle. 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.Ephesians 6:10-13, ESV. God makes provisions for us so that we will triumph in our mission. What is faith and where do we look to bolster our faith? “1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.2 For by it the people of old received their commendation.3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.Hebrews 11:1-3, ESV. God’s Word tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. If you think about it this Feast is used by our Lord to build our faith. No matter what you are facing, how big or insurmountable it may seem keep your eyes on Jesus. “7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”1 Samuel 16:7, ESV. We are, keeping the first thing first.

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast reading Joshua, Chapter 10; “Five kings war against Gibeon. (1-6) Joshua succours Gibeon The sun and moon stand still. (7-14) The kings are taken, their armies defeated, and they are put to death.(15-27) Seven other kings defeated and slain. (28-43)Matthew Henry Concise.

Joshua and the army are following God into battle. There are so many miraculous acts being done by God it’s hard to keep up. God holds time for Joshua and physically goes into the battle, killing more of the enemy than his army. Because they kept faith in God, He delivered all of the land into their hands. “40 So Joshua struck the whole land, the hill country and the Negeb and the lowland and the slopes, and all their kings. He left none remaining, but devoted to destruction all that breathed, just as the Lord God of Israel commanded. 41 And Joshua struck them from Kadesh-barnea as far as Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, as far as Gibeon. 42 And Joshua captured all these kings and their land at one time, because the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel. 43 Then Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal.Joshua 10:40-43, ESV. What, is there another lesson here saints? Be faithful in your walk with God and he shall deliver your enemies into your hand. Let the enemies of God be your enemies. Follow God faithfully and he will faithfully reward you. 21 And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. 22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”Matthew 21:21-23, ESV. God has left us here for a purpose, ask God to reveal your purpose to you. Do not be deceived we are engaged in a war, follow Jesus just as the armies followed Joshua. Allow God’s purpose to be your purpose, step up, step in! “3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.2 Corinthians 10:3-6, ESV. How does God know our faith? He knows us by our actions. “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.James 1:22, ESV. Carry God’s Word wherever he sends us, keeping the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of Jesus.

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast reading Joshua, Chapter 9; “The kings combine against Israel. (1,2) The Gibeonites apply for peace. (3-13) They obtain peace, but are soon detected. (14-21) The Gibeonites are to be bondmen. (22-27)Matthew Henry Concise.

Here we are in a campaign to rid the promised land of the old inhabitants, just as God instructed. Joshua and God’s people are fooled into making a covenant with the people of Gibeon. The mistake was giving their word as God’s people without consulting God first; “14 So the men took some of their provisions, but did not ask counsel from the Lord. 15 And Joshua made peace with them and made a covenant with them, to let them live, and the leaders of the congregation swore to them.Joshua 9:14-15, ESV. There is a lesson here saints! Before you make a deal, sign a contract or give you word anywhere, consult our God. You are God’s representative. We see many denominations dying because they do things without consulting God or even his Word. There are wicked people who have made their way into mainline religions. Now we see abominations making decisions where saints should have been. Why do God’s people perish? 5 You shall stumble by day; the prophet also shall stumble with you by night; and I will destroy your mother. 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. 7 The more they increased, the more they sinned against me; I will change their glory into shame.Hosea 4:5-7, ESV. Prayerfully consult God! He loves you and has proven his love for us over and over again. Turn to God and seek his counsel. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures foreverPsalm 111:10, ESV. Saint, remember this, if we are truly repentant then God’s willingness to forgive us is infinite. He said it’s not too late, if his people will turn from their wicked ways and pray he will hear us and heal our homes, families, churches and land. “114 You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word.Psalm 119:114, ESV. Lets get in line with God’s Word and be guided by Him. Lets keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of Jesus.

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast reading Joshua, Chapter 8; “God encourages Joshua. (1,2) The taking of Ai. (3-22) The destruction of Ai and its king. (23-29) The law read on Ebal and Gerizim. (30-35)Matthew Henry Concise.

The reasons that we continue in the Feast are because this is what God would have us do. For the saints it’s as important as continuing to eat a healthy diet as long as we live. We know that man does not live by bread alone, he lives by reading every word (Matthew 4:4) that God has given to him. We also know that the more we retain from this steady diet (Romans 10:17), the stronger our faith grows.

Yesterday we saw the folly in taking what belongs to God. Today we see the power of in an eternal relationship repentance with our awesome God. God not only forgives us but he ads to our life. “8 And the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not fear and do not be dismayed. Take all the fighting men with you, and arise, go up to Ai. See, I have given into in an eternal relationship your hand the king of Ai, and his people, his city, and his land. 2 And you shall do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho and its king. Only its spoil and its livestock you shall take as plunder for yourselves. Lay an ambush against the city, behind it.”Joshua 8:1-2, ESV. We’ve noticed this pattern of forgiveness all through in an eternal relationship God’s Word. Remember how Jesus acted in return to Peter’s denial of him at the crucifixion. I can’t imagine how bad Peter was feeling after having denied Jesus three times. This was after Pete told Jesus that he wouldn’t turn his back on Him. The Word shows us that Jesus understood how bad Peter felt about the denial. Jesus made sure that Peter knew that he was still loved and forgiven. He had the messenger at the tomb to specifically convey his message to Peter. 6 And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.”Mark 16:6-7, ESV. Those two words “and Peter” told Peter that Jesus had already forgiven him. We see the love nature of God when he tells us to love our neighbors. Not only that if you read God’s Word prayerfully you will begin to see just how forgiving his nature is. Look at how many times God said we should forgive a brother. “hen Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.Matthew 18:21-22, ESV. Saint, this tells us that if we are truly repentant then God’s willingness to forgive us is infinite. “12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.John 1:12-13, ESV. God’s will allows us to share in an eternal relationship with Him. Lets keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of Jesus.

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast reading Joshua, Chapter 7; “The Israelites smitten at Ai. (1-5) Joshua’s humiliation and prayer. (6-9) God instructs Joshua what to do. (10-15) Achan is detected, He is destroyed. (16-26)Matthew Henry Concise.

Be careful to continue to give God all the glory. Don’t take God’s glory or property for your own gain as you serve Him. We see that God gave His people victory over Jericho. However as we read today we see Achan took spoils from that which belonged to God. God is displeased with Achan to the extent that some of Achan’s fellow soldiers died in the next campaign. Now Joshua doesn’t understand why God would turn His back on the Israelite army. “10 The Lord said to Joshua, “Get up! Why have you fallen on your face? 11 Israel has sinned; they have transgressed my covenant that I commanded them; they have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen and lied and put them among their own belongings. 12 Therefore the people of Israel cannot stand before their enemies. They turn their backs before their enemies, because they have become devoted for destruction. I will be with you no more, unless you destroy the devoted things from among you.Joshua 7:10-12, ESV. As we serve our Lord give Him the Glory for he alone is worthy. As we serve God in love and faith allow him to reward each of us. [ Choose Whom You Will Serve ] “14 “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.Joshua 24:14, ESV. We are reading God’s word our faith is producing works. He is worthy of our praise and our love. Serve him faithfully and allow Him to reward you. “24 Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.1 Samuel 12:24, ESV. Saint, ask yourself if you’re willing to enter into a personal relationship with God? Are you able to serve God on his terms? Share His gifts giving Him all that is due to Him. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.Matthew 5:14-16, ESV. Our personal relationship with Jesus allows us to freely share that which He has given us. Give up what you cannot keep for the gift you cannot loose. Be sure to keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of Jesus.

I send the Feast out as the Holy Spirit inspires me. If the Lord Is willing I’ll send and post the Feast again tomorrow.
