Dear  Saints,

On the eve of the New Year I personally want to thank you for your faith and love throughout the life of the Feast and 2012.  I want to wish you all a Happy and Blessed New Year to come!  Today we prayerfully read in, 1 Kings 6.   Her we follow the building of Solomon’s temple to completion. The promise given Solomon concerning the temple is extended to us through Jesus. 11 Now the word of the Lord came to Solomon, 12 “Concerning this house that you are building, if you will walk in my statutes and obey my rules and keep all my commandments and walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father. 13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel and will not forsake my people Israel.”  1 Kings 6:11:13.  English Standard Version (ESV).   We continue to serve our awesome God through adoption into the family by His grace in Christ Jesus.  It is by joy we walk in God’s statutes, obeying Him, loving God’s rules and keeping all of His commandments, as we share Jesus and walk with Him.  Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters, “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:16, 18-19 ESV.  We thank Jesus that we have been selected to carry forth the message of salvation.  We will keep the first thing first. That is the gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  As long as God is willing and remembering that He is not willing that any should perish.  The Holy Spirit will continue to give us direction and the remembrance of Jesus’ Word as we serve God.  Each and every soul that accepts Jesus becomes an new temple filled with the Holy Spirit

LIVING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE SERIES (Dec 31)

SCRIPTURES: I Peter 3: 1-6

1 ¶ the same goes for you wives: Be good wives to your husbands, responsive to their needs. There are husbands who, indifferent as they are to any words about God, will be captivated

2 by your life of holy beauty.

3 What matters is not your outer appearance—the styling of your hair, the jewelry you wear, the cut of your clothes—

4 but your inner disposition. Cultivate inner beauty, the gentle, gracious kind that God delights in.

5 The holy women of old were beautiful before God that way, and were good, loyal wives to their husbands.

6 Sarah, for instance, taking care of Abraham, would address him as "my dear husband." You’ll be true daughters of Sarah if you do the same, unanxious and unintimidated.

DEVOTIONAL

Today we read God’s instructions about a wife’s duties under God. Tomorrow we will talk about husbands. Consider these attributes.

  • Be a good wife to your husband by your life of holy beauty.

  • Outer appearance is not more important than your inner disposition. God looks on the inside and at the heart.

  • Cultivate (grow) inner beauty which reflects gentle, gracious attitudes that pleases God.

  • Consider the example of holy women of old that were loyal to their husbands.

Divorce was not an option. The example of Sarah’s treatment of Abraham as she addressed him, “my dear husband.” This was an attitude of affection. Wives you need to develop the same attitude and be at peace, non-combative and uninitiated. You can be called the “daughters of Sarah” by following her example. Dear Jesus bless the wives as they serve Jesus to their husbands. Amen.

God Bless you,

Brother Mike

Dear  Saints,

Today we prayerfully read in, 1 Kings 5.   There is no advisory (Satan), or other enemies, so Solomon enters into an agreement with Hiram to build the temple.   Solomon drafts workmen for the temple.  Because God has granted him wisdom he works out livable schedules for the workforce. “13 King Solomon drafted forced labor out of all Israel, and the draft numbered 30,000 men. 14 And he sent them to Lebanon, 10,000 a month in shifts. They would be a month in Lebanon and two months at home. Adoniram was in charge of the draft. 15 Solomon also had 70,000 burden-bearers and 80,000 stonecutters in the hill country, 16 besides Solomon’s 3,300 chief officers who were over the work, who had charge of the people who carried on the work. 17 At the king’s command they quarried out great, costly stones in order to lay the foundation of the house with dressed stones. 18 So Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders and the men of Gebal did the cutting and prepared the timber and the stone to build the house.  1 Kings 5:13:18.  English Standard Version (ESV).   When we a faithfully serving God and he hands us a task, God provides the means to complete it. The Holy Spirit provides the wisdom to complete our tasks in a manner that honors God.  I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”” John 16:33 ESV.  We have Jesus love to guide us in his purpose.  He has given us a mandate to carry the Gospel message to the entire world.  In doing so we keep the first thing first. That is the gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  The Holy Spirit will give us the wisdom and the words to complete our tasks, in God’s name.

SCRIPTURE: I PETER 2:

9 But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—

10 from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.

11 Friends, this world is not your home, so don’t make yourselves cozy in it. Don’t indulge your ego at the expense of your soul.

12 Live an exemplary life among the natives so that your actions will refute their prejudices. Then they’ll be won over to God’s side and be there to join in the celebration when he arrives.

13 ¶ Make the Master proud of you by being good citizens. Respect the authorities, whatever their level;

14 they are God’s emissaries for keeping order.

15 It is God’s will that by doing good, you might cure the ignorance of the fools who think you’re a danger to society.

16 Exercise your freedom by serving God, not by breaking the rules.

17 Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritual family. Revere God. Respect the government.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: “Nothing to Something; Rejected to Accepted”

Did you know that you were picked by God to be on his team? I remember in grade school I was a captain and I had to choose my players and the other captain would choose his players. The best news is that God chooses everybody to be on his team and it’s up to you to sign up. In this scripture we are reminded that we citizens of Gods Kingdom so carry out your assignment. Here are the components of your assignment. Dear God please help us to bring honor to your name. Thank you Jesus.

  1. Live an exemplary life; the Christ life.

  2. Be a good citizen.

  3. Respect authorities.

  4. Serve God by not breaking the rules.

  5. Treat others with dignity.

  6. Love your Spiritual family.

  7. Revere God.

  8. Respect the government.

Dear  Saints,

Today we prayerfully read in, 1 Kings 4.   Solomon’s court were chosen for their abilities and their allegiance to Solomon. Solomon’s subjects were as many as the sand by the sea. The wisdom of Solomon; ” 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and breadth of mind like the sand on the seashore, 30 so that Solomon’s wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the people of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 For he was wiser than all other men, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol, and his fame was in all the surrounding nations. 32 He also spoke 3,000 proverbs, and his songs were 1,005. 33 He spoke of trees, from the cedar that is in Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of the wall. He spoke also of beasts, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of fish. 34 And people of all nations came to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and from all the kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.  1 Kings 4:29:34.  English Standard Version (ESV).   God asks you what you want in life when he offers you salvation.  Do you want things of this world or the wisdom to walk with God in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart?  Just remember that God is not willing that any should perish, he wants all people to come to Him through Jesus for Salvation. “[Jesus Comforts His Disciples] “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:1-3 NIV.  Think about it are you really giving anything up to walk with Jesus?  You get rest in this life, a life that you cannot keep anyway.   In return for walking with God you get life that you cannot lose, everlasting life in God’s kingdom.  Let’s keep the first thing first. That is the gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  Walk with Jesus and share his love.

Living the Christian Life

SCRIPTURE: 1 PETER 2:1-8

1 ¶ So clean house! Make a clean sweep of malice and pretense, envy and hurtful talk.

2 Now, like infants at the breast, drink deep of God’s pure kindness. Then you’ll grow up mature and whole in God.

3 You’ve had a taste of God.

4 ¶ Welcome to the living Stone, the source of life. The workmen took one look and threw it out; God set it in the place of honor.

5 Present yourselves as building stones for the construction of a sanctuary vibrant with life, in which you’ll serve as holy priests offering Christ-approved lives up to God.

6 The Scriptures provide precedent: Look! I’m setting a stone in Zion, a cornerstone in the place of honor. Whoever trusts in this stone as a foundation will never have cause to regret it.

7 To you who trust him, he’s a Stone to be proud of, but to those who refuse to trust him, The stone the workmen threw out is now the chief foundation stone.

8 For the untrusting it’s…a stone to trip over, a boulder blocking the way. They trip and fall because they refuse to obey, just as predicted.

DEVOTIONAL: “THE LIVING STONE” (Dec 29,2012)

Four pot holes are in the driveway of life and they are named “malice” (intent to do harm), and “envy” (desiring the blessings of another) and “pretense” (acting to be something that you are not), and “hurtful talk” (words designed to hurt another). These holes must be filled with attitudes of righteousness (the actions and positive results of a sound relationship between God and a person.) Christ is the living stone and our very source of life. We are to present ourselves as building stones for the construction of a temple vibrating with life spelled with a capital “L”. So make sure your life is Christ Approved.

God Bless you,

Brother Mike

Dear  Saints,

Thank you for sharing the Feast.  Today we prayerfully read in, 1 Kings 3.   Solomon’s marries the Pharaoh’s daughter.  In his vision, Solomon remembers king David walked with God in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart. His prayer for wisdom pleased God. The judgment of Solomon, concerning the fate of a child;”23 Then the king said, “The one says, ‘This is my son that is alive, and your son is dead’; and the other says, ‘No; but your son is dead, and my son is the living one.’” 24 And the king said, “Bring me a sword.” So a sword was brought before the king. 25 And the king said, “Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one and half to the other.” 26 Then the woman whose son was alive said to the king, because her heart yearned for her son, “Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and by no means put him to death.” But the other said, “He shall be neither mine nor yours; divide him.” 27 Then the king answered and said, “Give the living child to the first woman, and by no means put him to death; she is his mother.” 28 And all Israel heard of the judgment that the king had rendered, and they stood in awe of the king, because they perceived that the wisdom of God was in him to do justice.  1 Kings 3:23:28. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 ESV.  Think about it are you really giving anything up to walk with Jesus?  You get rest in this life, a life that you cannot keep anyway.   In return for walking with God you get life that you cannot lose, everlasting life in God’s kingdom.  Let’s keep the first thing first. CHRISTIAN LIVING SERIES

SCRIPTURE: I PETER 1:

17 You call out to God for help and he helps—he’s a good Father that way. But don’t forget, he’s also a responsible Father, and won’t let you get by with sloppy living. Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God.

18 It cost God plenty to get you out of that dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in.

19 He paid with Christ’s sacred blood, you know. He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb.

20 And this was no afterthought. Even though it has only lately—at the end of the ages—become public knowledge, God always knew he was going to do this for you.

21 It’s because of this sacrificed Messiah, whom God then raised from the dead and glorified, that you trust God, that you know you have a future in God.

22 Now that you’ve cleaned up your lives by following the truth, love one another as if your lives depended on it.

23 Your new life is not like your old life. Your old birth came from mortal sperm; your new birth comes from God’s living Word. Just think: a life conceived by God himself!

DEVOTIONAL: Christ answered the rich young ruler’s question of how to be saved? He said with compassion in his eye, “ye must be born again!” We are reminded in these scriptures that God had a plan for your life from the beginning. This plan can only be known by experiencing the new birth. If you trust God you have a future. Real life begins with Jesus and the gospel of John tells us, “In the beginning was the word and without Him was not anything made.” Did you catch it, “The Word”? As we approach the New Year remember new birth only comes from God’s Living Word. Do you want a life then choose Jesus. He waits at your heart’s door for you to invite Him In to your life and follow truth, love one another and love God for his love for you. Amen

Dear  Saints,

Thank you for sharing the Feast with us.  Today we prayerfully read in, 1 Kings 2.   David’s is dying and he tells Solomon to obey the laws of God. David’s tells Solomon how to deal with Joab and others.   Solomon is installed on the throne, for trying to take the throne Adonijah is put to death.  Abiathar is banned from being a priest to the Lord, Joab put to death for killing righteous men.  Shimei is put to death;   42 the king sent and summoned Shimei and said to him, “Did I not make you swear by the Lord and solemnly warn you, saying, ‘Know for certain that on the day you go out and go to any place whatever, you shall die’? And you said to me, ‘What you say is good; I will obey.’ 43 Why then have you not kept your oath to the Lord and the commandment with which I commanded you?” 44 The king also said to Shimei, “You know in your own heart all the harm that you did to David my father. So the Lord will bring back your harm on your own head. 45 But King Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord forever.” 46 Then the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and he went out and struck him down, and he died.  1 Kings 1:49:53.  English Standard Version (ESV).   Sin is like a cancer, which keeps eating away unnoticed for a while.  We should listen to David’s instructions to Solomon.  We need to obey God and keep his precepts.  “[Bless the LORD, O My Soul] Of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,” Psalm 103:1-2 ESV.  In all our ways we should honor Jesus.  Share his love and keep the first thing first. The gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  Let our very souls praise the Lord!

Devotional Series on Christian Living (December 27, 2012)

Scripture: I Peter 1:10-16

10 ¶ the prophets who told us this was coming asked a lot of questions about this gift of life God was preparing.

11 The Messiah’s Spirit let them in on some of it—that the Messiah would experience suffering, followed by glory. They clamored to know who and when.

12 All they were told was that they were serving you, you who by orders from heaven have now heard for yourselves—through the Holy Spirit—the Message of those prophecies fulfilled. Do you realize how fortunate you are? Angels would have given anything to be in on this!

13 ¶ so roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the gift that’s coming when Jesus arrives.

14 Don’t lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn’t know any better than; you do now.

15 As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness.

16 God said, "I am holy; you be holy."

Dear  Saints,

Thank you for sharing the Feast.  Today we prayerfully read in, 1 Kings 1.   David is old and his health is decining. Adonijah the son of Haggith, promotes himself  to David’s throne. After Nathan and Bathsheba explain the situation to King David, he makes Solomon, his promised heir king. Solomon became king, and Adonijah’s usurpation is stopped; 49 Then all the guests of Adonijah trembled and rose, and each went his own way. 50 And Adonijah feared Solomon. So he arose and went and took hold of the horns of the altar. 51 Then it was told Solomon, “Behold, Adonijah fears King Solomon, for behold, he has laid hold of the horns of the altar, saying, ‘Let King Solomon swear to me first that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.’” 52 And Solomon said, “If he will show himself a worthy man, not one of his hairs shall fall to the earth, but if wickedness is found in him, he shall die.” 53 So King Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and paid homage to King Solomon, and Solomon said to him, “Go to your house.”  1 Kings 1:49:53.  English Standard Version (ESV).   This is another example of a person trying to take power over God’s will.  God’s Word tell us that God promotes one and puts down another.  The powers appointed over us are promoted by God.  Therefore we should never presume we are more important than another to God.  That is the kind of behavior that will only embarrass us in the best of circumstances.he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.” Luke 2:28-32 ESV.    In all we do and share put God at the forefront.  The God purposed life keeps God first and exalts others over ourselves in His kingdom.  We should always keep the first thing first. The gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  In this way we are never doormats, we are simply promoting Jesus over ourselves.

1 Kings Overview; “The history now before us accounts for the affairs of the kingdoms of Judah and Israel, yet with special regard to the kingdom of God among them; for it is a sacred history. It is earlier as to time, teaches much more, and is more interesting than any common histories.” – Matthew Henry Concise

4 including a future in heaven—and the future starts now!

5 God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.

Devotional by Pastor Glen Aycock.

The gifts of Jesus surpasses all gifts. Let’s review the gifts mentioned in I Peter 1:2-5. Here is the list.

1.       We have the gift of a new life. No longer dead in sin but born again. (verse 3)

2.       Life is worth living thanks to Jesus.(verse 3b)

3.       We have a future and it starts now in our heart. We know where we are going. Hallelujah.

4.       God is keeping watch over us. He will never leave us alone or forsaken.

5.       God is preparing to give us healing from our infirmities and make us whole. When pastoring a Baptist church in Bullhead City, Arizona I made a house visit to a lady crippled up and twisted like a pretzel. But her spirit was not twisted, instead she triumphantly whispered, “Pastor the day is coming when my twisted body will stretch out and I will be whole by the touch of Jesus I am starting to sing praises now.”

Today let that be you attitude and let’s praise the Lord for the gift of LIFE WITH A CAPITAL “L”. Amen.”

God Bless you,

Brother Mike

[The Shepherds and the Angels] And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:8-11 ESV.

To You and your family!

Glory to God in the highest,

And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!

Dec 24 & 25_2012 Christmas

Luke 2:1-20

Dear Saints,

The Birth of Jesus Christ

1 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be registered, each to his own town. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. 6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

The Shepherds and the Angels

8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

15 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.Luke 2:1-20 English Standard Version (ESV).

Have a Blessed Christmas,

The Stanford Family
