Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully Feast in 1 Corinthians 4   (Hyperlink).  The true character of gospel ministers are merely servants of Jesus and weren’t to be considered less.  They hold an honorable office. We under no circumstance should despise ministers of Christ.  Like Paul we regard those whom we lead to Jesus as spiritual children.  Do we glorify God best in chastisement or love?  18 Some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. 19 But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk of these arrogant people but their power. 20 For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power. 21 What do you wish? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?” 1 Corinthians 4:18-21 English Standard Version (ESV).  The Holy Spirit will tell us what we need to do and how we should share, carry ourselves and share God’s grace as Jesus’ followers.  15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,Ephesians 4:15 ESV.  Herein is where our truth lies, our relationship with Jesus should teach us to become more Christ like in faith, love and grace as we mature.

What gives us confidence?

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully Feast in 1 Corinthians 3   (Hyperlink).  Do you suppose yourself wiser than another in God’s scripture because you have known Jesus longer?  Don’t fool yourself for the quality of our    relationship with Jesus is far more important the length of our relationship.   18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness,” 20 and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” 21 So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, 22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, 23 and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.” 1 Corinthians 3:18-23 English Standard Version (ESV).  Only the worldly automatically counts age as wisdom!  Only God can see the inner most thoughts of each believer.  We are all servants of the same God; no believer should set himself above another because Jesus rescued him before the other.  As believers we can definitely know Jesus who paid for our sins. “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth.Job 19:25 ESV.  We are sure of our redeemer because the Holy Spirit with whom we are sealed gives us confidence in the Word and love of God!  This is folly in the eyes of the unbelievers because they are not sealed with the Holy Spirit.   16 So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men.” Romans 14:16-18 ESV.

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Philippians 2:5-8 ESV.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully Feast in 1 Corinthians 2 ← (Hyperlink).  The apostle preached Christ crucified.  We don’t know the mind of God; however we are educated by the Holy Spirit, in this doctrine. We can understand God’s intentions by the Holy Spirit.  14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:14-16 English Standard Version (ESV).  We serve God proclaiming salvation through Jesus.  We are not proclaiming equality with Jesus, we claim justification through Jesus!   “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Philippians 2:5-8 ESV.  We serve Jesus in love grateful thankfulness for salvation.  We offer to share salvation with every person, emulating the grace that Jesus showed us on the cross.  As we wait on the Lord, we can join Pastor Glen in prayer on this devotional “WAITING ON GOD← (Hyperlink);

“…PRAYER FOR TODAY: Dear Jesus: We vow to “stay the course” and Lord we need help to restore the core beliefs among your people, namely recognition that God is our help and deliverer. We seek a revival that brings us to our knees asking for forgiveness. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.” Pastor Glen Aycock, Waiting On God ←( Hyperlink )

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully begin to Feast in 1 Corinthians 1.   Do you wonder why I refer to my brothers and sisters in Jesus Saints?   2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:

3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”” 1 Corinthians 1:2-3 English Standard Version (ESV).  Because it is scriptural!  We should continue to hold our work up to the Word of God.  29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. 30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 31 so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”” 2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV.  I want to reach as many as I can for Jesus.  It is for that reason why I keep it simple.

The devotional from pastor Glen “KEEP IT SIMPLE” teaches us to do just that;

“…God doesn’t seek eloquent and impressive prayers. He desires the utterances of your heart. Remember he knows the position of your spiritual life and all of your needs. So talk to Him about any sin in your life. He can reach down to the deepest pit and lift you out of the miry clay that sucks at your soul. God really cares and loves you and He is the answer for any problem you have…” Pastor Glen Aycock, FRIDAY DEVOTIONAL (04262013)

1 Corinthians 1 an overview;

“The Corinthian church contained some Jews, but more Gentiles, and the apostle had to contend with the superstition of the one, and the sinful conduct of the other. The peace of this church was disturbed by false teachers, who undermined the influence of the apostle. Two parties were the result; one contending earnestly for the Jewish ceremonies, the other indulging in excesses contrary to the gospel, to which they were especially led by the luxury and the sins which prevailed around them. This epistle was written to rebuke some disorderly conduct, of which the apostle had been apprized, and to give advice as to some points whereon his judgment was requested by the Corinthians. Thus the scope was twofold. 1. To apply suitable remedies to the disorders and abuses which prevailed among them. 2. To give satisfactory answers on all the points upon which his advice had been desired. The address, and Christian mildness, yet firmness, with which the apostle writes, and goes on from general truths directly to oppose the errors and evil conduct of the Corinthians, is very remarkable. He states the truth and the will of God, as to various matters, with great force of argument and animation of style.” – Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue to Feast in 2 Chronicles 36.   Today we witness the step by step destruction of Jerusalem.   The evil one enters in with his sin slowly so that God’s people are not shocked. Jehoahaz reigned three months before the king of Egypt over threw him and begin taxing God’s people. The king of Egypt put Eliakim on the throne. Neco took Jehoahaz his brother to Egypt.  Jehoiakim (AKA Eliakim) did what was evil to his God. Jehoiachin his son reigned three months and ten days. He was insolent to God. Zedekiah king over Judah and Jerusalem followed suite stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against the God of Israel. God had compassion on his people, persistently sending his word. The people remained stiff necked and mocked God. The king of the Chaldeans Captured and Burned Jerusalem.  He sacked the city and those he didn’t kill he took as slaves. The proclamation of Cyrus;   22 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing: 23 “Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, ‘The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever is among you of all his people, may the Lord his God be with him. Let him go up.’”” 2 Chronicles 36:22-23 English Standard Version (ESV).  God showed patience and gave his people many chances to repent and turned to Him before he allowed the destruction of Jerusalem.  They were turned against God by degree.  It was not all at once.  Saints look at our nations; television of today wouldn’t have been stood for sixty years ago.  I point to TV because it is a good barometer showing how Satan crept in degenerating slowly year after year.  Look at our politicians; passing legislation to condone sin and promiscuous acts, by changing our laws slowly year after year.  Who will step up and champion Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit, in the changeless face of sin?  It’s time to put your beliefs on the line.  It’s time we take a stand against sin and for God.  Where do we start?  I think we need to earnestly turn to God in prayer. “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV. And we need to follow through living Christ centered lives.  Full filling our purposes to God through Jesus; “Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25 ESV.  Through Jesus we can live without sin, with a purpose.  Saints you and I are charged with sharing Jesus with the world until He comes for us (see Matthew 28:18-20). Mankind is ripe for harvest!

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue to Feast in 2 Chronicles 35.   In order to please God The Passover kept by Josiah.  Once again we see God supply the means for what He requires.  God leads him to make sure at everyone in his kingdom has what they needed for the Passover.  Doesn’t Josiah hear the word from God?  Because he doesn’t he is slain in battle.   22 Nevertheless, Josiah did not turn away from him, but disguised himself in order to fight with him. He did not listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God, but came to fight in the plain of Megiddo. 23 And the archers shot King Josiah. And the king said to his servants, “Take me away, for I am badly wounded.”” 2 Chronicles 35:22-23 English Standard Version (ESV).  This King Josiah even though he serves God, he doesn’t wait on God.  Why did he disguise himself to hide from Neco or God?  No matter why he disguised himself, he is slain in the battle because you can’t disobey or hide from God.  To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” Colossians 1:27-28 ESV When we take communion it is much like the Passover in form (see Luke 22:18-20).  Though we are living to please our Lord and Savior Jesus we need to wait on and listen to the Holy Spirit, who brings all things to our remembrance; “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26 ESV.  Be sure to put all things through the test by holding them up to the Word of God.  If you faithful to love and follow Jesus and conduct yourself according to His purpose you will prosper in all things (see Romans 8:27-29).

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue to Feast in 2 Chronicles 34   The bible (The Word of god) tells about the good reign of Josiah in Judah.  We see early on that he set out trying serve God by knocking down high places and smashing Idols to dust.  Then as he put his people to repair the temple the book that contained God’s law was found. It was red t Josiah and that’s when he found out what God really wanted.   31 And the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book. 32 Then he made all who were present in Jerusalem and in Benjamin join in it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.” 2 Chronicles 34:31-32 English Standard Version (ESV).  Most people don’t read the bible (The Word of god) until after they are saved. That’s why many of them think that if you act good God will save them. The Word of God tells us what God really wants. “knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.” 1 Peter 1:18-19 ESV    He wants us to know that Jesus already paid the full price for all of our sin before we even sinned.  He wants us to have a personal relationship with him (see Revelation 3:19-21).  He wants us to love him with all our hearts (see Matthew 22:36-40).  And because he is not willing that any should perish he wants us to share God’s love with the whole world (see Matthew 28:19).   That’s right we are really saved to a Jesus centered life, a purpose filled life!
