Dear  Saints,

Today we are prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 15.  We see a lot of turmoil in the Holy Land, as we read today’s Feast. Jotham the son of Uzziah, reigns as king of Judah.  Though he did what was right in the eyes of the lord, he didn’t do everything that God expected.  God allowed army’s to continue to raid his kingdom because he did things halfway.  37 In those days the Lord began to send Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah against Judah. 38 Jotham slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father, and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.“ 2nd Kings 15:37-38 English – Standard Version (ESV).  We can’t serve our God halfway.  Jesus is the center of a Godly life, with no high places on the side.  When we sin we must repent and ask God to forgive us.  With everything we’ve read in God’s Word we know we can depend on God.  For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.” Psalm 86:5 ESV.  We are saved, by grace not by our own works.  When we sin we must be faithful to repent and ask God for forgiveness.  Jesus loves you, keep the first thing first.  That is salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  God is not willing that any should perish, so he is true to forgive us when we ask for forgiveness.

Living the Christian Life Series- 1/31/2013

SCRIPTURES: 2 PETER 3:8-15

8 ¶ Don’t overlook the obvious here, friends. With God, one day is as good as a thousand years, a thousand years as a day.

9 ¶ God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.

10 But when the Day of God’s Judgment does come, it will be unannounced, like a thief. The sky will collapse with a thunderous bang, everything disintegrating in a huge conflagration, earth and all its works exposed to the scrutiny of Judgment.

11 ¶ Since everything here today might well be gone tomorrow; do you see how essential it is to live a holy life?

12 Daily expect the Day of God, eager for its arrival. The galaxies will burn up and the elements melt down that day—

13 but we’ll hardly notice. We’ll be looking the other way, ready for the promised new heavens and the promised new earth, all landscaped with righteousness.

14 So, my dear friends, since this is what you have to look forward to, do your very best to be found living at your best, in purity and peace.

15 Interpret our Master’s patient restraint for what it is: salvation.

DEVOTIONAL:      “PREPARING TO MEET GOD”

Recently we traveled to Nebraska to see my youngest daughter and family. When we landed I entered the airport scanning the crowd to spot my daughter who I had not seen in 15 years. When I saw her my heart jumped and joy filled my soul. Have you thought how you are going to feel when Jesus returns? Will you be able to say, “My Lord I have been waiting for you and I am so glad you are here? Verse 11 in the scripture reminds us that is essential to live a holy life and to daily expect the Day of God. As the earth burns up our attention will focus on the promised new earth which is landscaped with righteousness. When you wake up in the morning ask yourself is this the day that I will meet the Lord and may our reply be like John in Revelation, “Even so Lord come Quickly.” Remember when the last person is saved that God has waited patiently on, it is then he will come. So share Him every day, email, phone, write, telephone and share Christ.

PRAYER: GOD I WANT TO BE READY FOR YOU. PLEASE LORD FORGIVE ME OF MY SIN AND SAVE ME.

God Bless you,

Brother Mike

Dear  Saints,

Today we are prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 14.  Our God the Great IM never changes. When we read today’s feast we once again see God’s faithfulness and mercy.     26 For the Lord saw that the affliction of Israel was very bitter, for there was none left, bond or free, and there was none to help Israel. 27 But the Lord had not said that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, so he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.“ 2nd Kings 14:26-27 English – Standard Version (ESV).  God is true to His people, Jesus promised he would never leave nor forsake us. So is this our license to sin?  1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:1-3 ESV.  We are saved, we are children of God!  We know God does not tolerate sin or liars in the kingdom of heaven.  Walk in truth and love like Jesus.  Ask yourself what would Jesus really do, before you commit to any action or word.  Walking in love keeping the first thing first, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  Let your life be a light in a world filled with darkness.  Our God is always true to His word.

Dear  Saints,

Today we are prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 13.  Today we read as Elisha finishes his service to God.  It seems he crossed the finish line so well his very bones were blessed.     20 So Elisha died, and they buried him. Now bands of Moabites used to invade the land in the spring of the year. 21 And as a man was being buried, behold, a marauding band was seen and the man was thrown into the grave of Elisha, and as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet.“ 2nd Kings 13:20-21 English – Standard Version (ESV).  How precious It would be to hear our Lord and Savior say; “…, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’” Matthew 25:21 ESV.  No matter what you offer to God, or what your station in the Church is the following devotional is for you.

LIVING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE BY SERVING- (1-28-2013)

SCRIPTURE: 1 PETER 5: 1-9

1 ¶ I have a special concern for you church leaders. I know what it’s like to be a leader, in on Christ’s sufferings as well as the coming glory.2 Here’s my concern: that you care for God’s flock with all the diligence of a shepherd. Not because you have to, but because you want to please God. Not calculating what you can get out of it, but acting spontaneously.3 Not bossily telling others what to do, but tenderly showing them the way.4 When God, who is the best shepherd of all, comes out in the open with his rule, he’ll see that you’ve done it right and commend you lavishly.5 ¶ And you who are younger must follow your leaders. But all of you, leaders and followers alike, are to be down to earth with each other, for—God has had it with the proud, But takes delight in just plain people.6  So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time.

“ADVICE FOR CHRISTIAN LEADERS AND FOLLOWERS”

Being a church leader is a calling. There are multiple jobs in a church and they are equally important. I praise God for my Sunday School teachers through my childhood and teen years. My 50 years of pastoring and evangelizing reflect their skill in teaching. A leader must realize the privilege of caring for God’s flock and how it pleases God. To you preachers these scriptures discuss caring for the flock with tenderness of the Good Shepherd.  We need to look at our responsibilities as opportunities to represent our Lord and not to look at them as a job. Followers and leaders need to be down to earth and not impressed with themselves. We must be down to earth with each other. Do you feel God’s strong hand on and do you know that God has an assignment and plans to give you a promotion. I want to work for Jesus until He says well done my good and faithful messenger, Come Home! God help us to carry out our individual assignment of service. AMEN.

Dear  Saints,

Today we are prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 12.  Jehoash orders the money that had been collected to be used to pay the workmen for the repair of the temple.  Jehoash started out with great faith doing right in the eyes of the Lord.  In the end he puts his faith in an earthly king and he is slain by his servants.   20 His servants arose and made a conspiracy and struck down Joash in the house of Millo, on the way that goes down to Silla. 21 It was Jozacar the son of Shimeath and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, who struck him down, so that he died. And they buried him with his fathers in the city of David, and Amaziah his son reigned in his place. 2nd Kings 12:20-21 English – Standard Version (ESV).  Those of us that are put in authority in any situation are responsible to the Lord.  Whether you are the head of the country or responsible for cleaning the ashtrays.  We may be the CEO of a fortune 500 company or a child’s nanny; in either way we are responsible to put God first.  Trust God before any earthly help or guidance.  God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24 ESV.  Whether we are serving God or an earthly master do so as you are serving God in every instance.  On the job or in the church, in public or with our family be true and keep the first thing first.  This is salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  In doing the right thing all the time your very life is a light to those seeking God and pleasing to the Lord.    Please God first and you will truly be pleasing to those around you.

Dear  Saints,

Today we are prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 11.  Athaliah kills all the known line of David and usurps the government of Judah.  Jehoash who was hidden from her and is made king.  Athaliah Is cast out like Satan from power.  Athaliah is put to death.   The worship of the Lord restored when God picks the seven year old to be king.  21 Jehoash was seven years old when he began to reign. 2nd Kings 11:21 English – Standard Version (ESV).  Sometimes we are quick to complain about our leadership even in a society where we choose our own leaders.  I’m here to let you know that God chooses our leaders according to how we serve the Lord.  Some may say that “money” makes the choice, but God’s Word say’s it is God.  5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.

6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.  Psalm 75:5-7 King James Version (KJV).  How does this affect you and I saint?  If you really don’t know take a look at the Israelites and where their complaining got them as they were led by Moses in the wilderness.  If we really want a change in leadership we must turn to God!  That’s what God’s Word say’s. “14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV.  We are not supposed to complain about our leaders or make them the butt of our jokes.  Think twice about what you have to say as a child of God.  Let your speech glorify God because you are the light of the world.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” Ephesians 6:12-13 ESV.  This means that we should be thankful to God even whenever and wherever He his will is done.   Understand that Jesus keep his own.  Along with that keep the first thing first. This is salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  You can be assured our awesome God never changes.  He is eternally true and true to us as his children.

Dear  Saints,

Today we are prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 10.  For their sins Ahab’s sons and Ahaziah’s brethren are put to death.  Because they were sinning and worshipping false gods, Jehu destroys the worshippers of Baal.   Jehu follows Jeroboam’s sins so the Lord begins to cut Israel apart; “32 In those days the Lord began to cut off parts of Israel. Hazael defeated them throughout the territory of Israel: 33 from the Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the Valley of the Arnon, that is, Gilead and Bashan. 34 Now the rest of the acts of Jehu and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? 35 So Jehu slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son reigned in his place. 36 The time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years. 2nd Kings 10:32-36 English – Standard Version (ESV).  Jehu seemed to be a zealous follower of God as he rooted out the idolaters.  Then he doesn’t follow through, living a righteous life, he falls into the sin of his father.  Remember this; There are no small sins, no white lies, sin is like cancer in that it grows and spreads until it consumes an individual and finally a nation.  Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.” James 4:10 ESV. We begin a good work in the Lord; we need to finish the race, in good grace.  Jesus did not cleanse us of sin in order for us to fall back into it.  When you sin turn to Jesus right away and ask for forgiveness.  There are no small sins just as there is no small cancer.  If your doctor finds cancer in your system, he doesn’t ignore it, saying; “It’s a small cancer, don’t even worry about it.  Sin is like rust, when you find it you don’t merely paint over it.  If you cover it rather than removing it first it spreads under the paint.  Confess your sin to Jesus and ask him to remove it from you.  Keep the first thing first. This is salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  The only way to triumph over sin is to ask Jesus to forgive you and cut it out of your life.  It’s up to you to turn from the sin once Jesus sets you free.

Dear  Saints,

Today we are prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 9.  God directs Elisha to anoint Jehu as king according to God’s will. To the captains the messengers who come to Jehu appears as a mad man. The evil kings Joram and Ahaziah are slain by Jehu. Jezebel is eaten by dogs.  35 But when they went to bury her, they found no more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands. 36 When they came back and told him, he said, “This is the word of the Lord, which he spoke by his servant Elijah the Tishbite: ‘In the territory of Jezreel the dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel, 37 and the corpse of Jezebel shall be as dung on the face of the field in the territory of Jezreel, so that no one can say, This is Jezebel.’“ 2nd Kings 9:35-37 English – Standard Version (ESV).  Make no mistake sin will always be dealt with as sin by God.  Sin is a cancer that will not enter the kingdom God has prepared for us.   Let’s not dwell on the negative for this is not God’s will for us.  Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.Philippians 4:8 ESV.   We are the light to the world; our purpose is to carry God’s word as ambassadors from Jesus.  Let your light shine and keep the first thing first. This is salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  We are the children of the king.  Let people know what good really is.

Revive Us Again

SCRIPTURE: 1 PETER 3:22; 4:1-11.

”We were slaves; yet even as slaves, our God didn’t abandon us. He has put us in the good graces of the kings of Persia and given us the heart to build The Temple of our God, restore its ruins, and construct a defensive wall in Judah and Jerusalem.

10  "And now, our God, after all this what can we say for ourselves? For we have thrown your commands to the wind,

17  Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will even gather you from the peoples, and assemble you out of the countries where ye are scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.

18  And they shall come thither, and they shall take away from thence all its detestable things and all its abominations.

19  And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh;

20  that they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.”

21  But as for them whose heart walketh well-pleased with their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their heads, saith the Lord Jehovah.

Isa 57:15 “For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: This scripture speaks loud and clear about what God wants for our nation. He wants His people to be of one heart and to keep his ordinances and be doers of the word and not hearers only. In order to accomplish this we must have:

·       Contrite and humble spirit.

·       He will revive us.

·       Walk in His Will

PRAYER THOUGHT: Dear God, Work we pray in our hearts as pray for revival. We are crying.

God Bless you,
