Do We Carry His Light?

Today’s Feast

Oct. 24, 2015 – John 5

Do We Carry His Light?

Please join with us sharing God’s Word daily. We will spend about fifteen minutes a day praying and reading every word in God’s Word in approximately three years.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.Proverbs 9:10, English Standard Version (ESV).
Dear Saints,
Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast in John Chapter 5; “The cure at the pool of Bethesda. (1-9) The Jews’ displeasure. (10-16) Christ reproves the Jews. (17-23) Christ’s discourse. John 5:24-47” – Matthew Henry Concise.
Who is this Jesus that we should worship him? He said it himself he is worthy of our praise, because he is equal with God. “18 This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.” John 5:18, ESV. We believe that Jesus lived a perfect life. This is why he alone could pay for the sins of all mankind. When you look at any sinner remember God is not willing that any should perish. Remember we were saved not because of anything we did for we were all dead in sin. Now that we have salvation we don’t need to point out peoples sin, rather we point out the love of God.“21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. 22 The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” John 5:21-24, ESV. Just as God loves us and delivers us from slavery in sin to freedom in Christ Jesus, we are to carry his message to the world. We know how much God loves every single person, no matter what their station in life, in the world.“16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”” John 3:16-21, ESV. We carry the light into a dark world. It is our job to testify to a lost world, the love of God. When you feel overwhelmed turn to our God. He will show you what to do, how, to testify and what to say. “1 I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? 2 My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2, ESV.We are carrying his light keeping the first thing first! That is salvation through the blood of the lamb, Jesus.
Don’t get caught up in “religion”, it is about a relationship. Our salvation depends completely on God! We are the Saints that Jesus sacrificed his life to pay in full for our sin, when we repent and accept Jesus. He will come to get every Saint; “36 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” Matthew 24:36, ESV. We are building our relationship with Jesus right now, do not wait while you try to change anything. Click this link for more information; admenu.com/calling.htm .

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast in John Chapter 4; Christ’s departure into Galilee. (1-3) His discourse with the Samaritan woman. (4-26) The effects of Christ’s conversation with the woman of Samaria. (27-42) Christ heals the nobleman’s son. (43-54)” – Matthew Henry Concise.

Ponder this as we read today’s feast; what is it that makes us believers? Did someone tell us about Jesus and that’s why we believe? Did the Holy Spirit reveal Jesus to you? “39 Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days. 41 And many more believed because of his word. 42 They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.”John 4:39-42, ESV. Whether someone shared their faith or you believe because you read it in the Word, the Holy Spirit revealed the truth to you when you accepted God’s gift of a loving eternal life, with Jesus. So let’s continue to keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of the lamb, Jesus.

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast in John Chapter 3; “Christ’s discourse with Nicodemus. (1-21) The baptism of John of Christ John’s testimony. (22-36)” – Matthew Henry Concise.

When we read today’s feast we see Nicodemus coming (John 3:1-2) to Jesus in the night, like he was ashamed to be seen with Jesus. Jesus told him he had to be born again and explained God’s gift of salvation to every person on Earth;16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.John 3:16, ESV. Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast in John Chapter 2; “The miracle at Cana. (1-11) Christ casts the buyers and sellers out of the temple. (12-22) Many believe in Christ. (23-25)” – Matthew Henry Concise.

When this chapter ends many believe in Jesus name; 23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing. 24 But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people 25 and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.John 2:23-25, ESV. Because they saw the signs that he was doing, yet Jesus does not intrust himself to them, Why? Go back up in this same chapter (John 2:13-17) and see what men were doing to the Fathers House of Worship. I know of some people who regularly attends church because it is good for business. The point I’m trying to bring out today is God knows our heart; “10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; 11 no one understands; no one seeks for God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”Romans 3:10-12, ESV. Our righteousness (Romans 8:10) is in Christ Jesus! So let’s continue to keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of the lamb, Jesus.

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast in John Chapter 1; The apostle and evangelist, John, seems to have been the youngest of the twelve. He was especially favoured with our Lord’s regard and confidence, so as to be spoken of as the disciple whom Jesus loved. He was very sincerely attached to his Master. He exercised his ministry at Jerusalem with much success, and outlived the destruction of that city, agreeably to Christ’s prediction, ch. 21:22 . History relates that after the death of Christ’s mother, John resided chiefly at Ephesus. Towards the close of Domitian’s reign he was banished to the isle of Patmos, where he wrote his Revelation. On the accession of Nerva, he was set at liberty, and returned to Ephesus, where it is thought he wrote his Gospel and Epistles, about A. D. 97, and died soon after. The design of this Gospel appears to be to convey to the Christian world, just notions of the real nature, office, and character of that Divine Teacher, who came to instruct and to redeem mankind. For this purpose, John was directed to select for his narrative, those passages of our Saviour’s life, which most clearly displayed his Divine power and authority; and those of his discourses, in which he spake most plainly of his own nature, and of the power of his death, as an atonement for the sins of the world. By omitting, or only briefly mentioning, the events recorded by the other evangelists, John gave testimony that their narratives are true, and left room for the doctrinal statements already mentioned, and for particulars omitted in the other Gospels, many of which are exceedingly important.

The Divinity of Christ. (1-5) His Divine and human nature. (6-14) John the Baptist’s testimony to Christ. (15-18) John’s public testimony concerning Christ. (19-28) Other testimonies of John concerning Christ. (29-36) Andrew and another disciple follow Jesus. (37-42) Philip and Nathanael called. (43-51)” – Matthew Henry Concise.

This scripture opens with a description of Jesus. It tells us who he is and what he does. “1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.John 1:1-5, ESV. Let’s continue to keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of the lamb, Jesus.

Don’t get caught up in “religion”, it is about a relationship. Our salvation depends completely on God! Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast in Judges Chapter 21; “The Israelites lament for the Benjamites.

– Israel lamented for the Benjamites, and were perplexed by the oath they had taken, not to give their daughters to them in marriage. Men are more zealous to support their own authority than that of God. They would have acted better if they had repented of their rash oaths, brought sin-offerings, and sought forgiveness in the appointed way, rather than attempt to avoid the guilt of perjury by actions quite as wrong. That men can advise others to acts of treachery or violence, out of a sense of duty, forms a strong proof of the blindness of the human mind when left to itself, and of the fatal effects of a conscience under ignorance and error.” – Matthew Henry Concise.

Once again we see mans mouth putting him in direct trouble from the Lord. In their anger they swore not to give their daughters to the men of the tribe of Benjamin. Now that they have made peace with them they cannot give them wives. “16 Then the elders of the congregation said, “What shall we do for wives for those who are left, since the women are destroyed out of Benjamin?” 17 And they said, “There must be an inheritance for the survivors of Benjamin, that a tribe not be blotted out from Israel. 18 Yet we cannot give them wives from our daughters.” For the people of Israel had sworn, “Cursed be he who gives a wife to Benjamin.”Judges 21:16-18, ESV. Once again if they had consulted with God prior to taking an oath they may not be against the wall. I’ve heard men say; ”God laughs at the plans of men.” I think God groans when men take an oath instead of consulting Him. “2 If a man vows a vow to the LORD, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.Numbers 30:2, ESV. God puts great stock in the word of man. Remember God spoke heaven and earth into existence. He continues to tell us not to swear an oath even in the new testament. “5 But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.James 5:12, ESV. Jesus died for us once to set us free from sin. God doesn’t want us putting ourselves under condemnation. He wants us to continue free of sin and condemnation. Do we continue to appreciate and love Jesus? If the answer is yes take heed; “Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.John 14:23, ESV. Let’s continue to keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of the lamb, Jesus.

Dear Saints,

Thank you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast in Judges Chapter 20; “The tribe of Benjamin nearly extirpated.

– The Israelites’ abhorrence of the crime committed at Gibeah, and their resolution to punish the criminals, were right; but they formed their resolves with too much haste and self-confidence. The eternal ruin of souls will be worse, and more fearful, than these desolations of a tribe.” – Matthew Henry Concise.

No matter what you enter into seek God’s will first. We see that when the Israelites acted in haste they all payed a price. “19 Then the people of Israel rose in the morning and encamped against Gibeah. 20 And the men of Israel went out to fight against Benjamin, and the men of Israel drew up the battle line against them at Gibeah. 21 The people of Benjamin came out of Gibeah and destroyed on that day 22,000 men of the Israelites.Judges 20:19-21, ESV. I think that if they had consulted with God prior to declaring they were getting even, then they would have had victory from he start. “27 And the people of Israel inquired of the Lord (for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days, 28 and Phinehas the son of Eleazar, son of Aaron, ministered before it in those days), saying, “Shall we go out once more to battle against our brothers, the people of Benjamin, or shall we cease?” And the Lord said, “Go up, for tomorrow I will give them into your hand.”Judges 20:27-28, ESV. God himself tells us that vengeance is his. He says if people will turn from their wicked ways and ask him he will heal their lands. “7 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.2 Chronicles 7:14, ESV. What about us, we call ourselves Christians, are we Gods people? Is there a way to tell the world we are God’s people? “34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”John 13:34-35, ESV. Saints if we truly love one another as Jesus loved us we will keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of the lamb, Jesus.

Don’t get caught up in “religion”, it is about a relationship. Our salvation depends completely on God! We are the Saints that Jesus sacrificed his life to pay in full for our sin, when we repent and accept Jesus.
