Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter 15.  God tells Jerimiah; Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, my mind remains unchanged about (see Jeremiah 15:1-9) these unrepentant people.  Though Saints alive or dead pray for people they only gain forgiveness by their own repentant requests (see Acts 4:12) made in the name of Jesus.  Though Jeremiah is a man of God; (see Jeremiah 15:10-14) reminding them of God’s covenant they hate him because they love the world.  Jeremiah is filled with love for God and God’s people.  He is full of concern for their trespasses (see Jeremiah 13:12-17) and he is unable to bring about their sincere repentance.  Jeremiah is assured that the Lord would deliver him from his enemies; “20 And I will make you to this people a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you, but they shall not prevail over you, for I am with you to save you and deliver you,
declares the Lord.  21 I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless.”
Jeremiah 15:20-21  English Standard Versions (ESV).   As Christians we are supposed to separate ourselves from the sin of the world (
see Revelation 18:4) while carrying the message of God’s love to them.  At the same time we are to avoid causing strife in the church.  10 I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. 1 Corinthians 1:10  ESV.  Many times strife is brought up by subjects that have (see 2 Corinthians 5:19-21) no bearing on salvation!  We have to avoid arguing over that (see Titus 3:9) which does not affect salvation.  In all things we reach out with that same love Jesus has for each of us; “1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith,  so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter 14.  Jeremiah prophecies concerning the drought.   God’s chosen people are backsliding (see Jeremiah 14:1-9) they feel like God has abandoned them.  God has not forsaken them; they have broken their covenant with God.  Because they are unrepentant, God is referring to them as “this people” rather than “my people”.  The land is full of false prophets (see Jeremiah 14:10-16) filling the minds of “this people” with their lies.  The prophet Jeremiah is confessing to the sinful ways of this people, (see Jeremiah 14:17-22) he is asking God to remember the covenant with His people. 21 Do not spurn us, for your name’s sake; do not dishonor your glorious throne; remember and do not break your covenant with us.  22 Are there any among the false gods of the nations that can bring rain?  Or can the heavens give showers? Are you not he, O Lord our God? We set our hope on you, for you do all these things.Jeremiah 14:21-22  English Standard Versions (ESV).   When we feel far off from God (see Hebrews 13:5) it is not God who has slid away.  May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5-6 ESV.  Jesus is faithful and true (see Ephesians 1:3) we can be assured of His love and righteousness.  If we have vowed to do anything in Jesus name (see Luke 9:62) we can never turn back.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter 13.  Jeremiah teaches by signs.    Pride soils Judah and Jerusalem; they are being compared (see Jeremiah 13:1-11) to a soiled loincloth.  Because they are unrepentant, prideful sinners God filled (see Jeremiah 13:12-17) all who lived in this land with drunkenness to bring about sincere repentance.  The prophet Jeremiah is saying that their sin is like cancer, (see Jeremiah 13:18-27) and if they will not repent their sin will kill their very souls. 25 This is your lot, the portion I have measured out to you, declares the Lord, because you have forgotten me and trusted in lies. 26 I myself will lift up your skirts over your face, and your shame will be seen. 27 I have seen your abominations, your adulteries and neighings, your lewd whorings, on the hills in the field. Woe to you, O Jerusalem!  How long will it be before you are made clean?”Jeremiah 13:25-27  English Standard Versions (ESV).   This is the wicked man’s portion from God, the heritage decreed for him by God, death, (see Romans 6:23) while the free gift from God is life everlasting.  But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:17-18 ESV.  You and I are the ambassadors for Jesus, sober minded, filled with His righteousness, sharing salvation and hope (see 2 Corinthians 5:19-21) with all who will repent and accept God’s gift.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter 12.  Jerimiah complains to God; righteous are you, O Lord, when I complain to you.  (see Jeremiah 12:1-6) And God Answers Jeremiah; reproving the prophet.  Just as in the days of Jerimiah; Many professing churches today are, preaching a mixture of religion and the world.  God will not bless (see Jeremiah 12:7-13) vain fashions, worldly pursuits, and those who contaminate His Word.  The prophet Jeremiah is saying that wicked worldly people offend God (see Jeremiah 11:18-23) even so if they will repent and accept Gods covenant He will redeem them. 16 And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, ‘As the Lord lives,’ even as they taught my people to swear by Baal, then they shall be built up in the midst of my people. 17 But if any nation will not listen, then I will utterly pluck it up and destroy it, declares the Lord.”Jeremiah 12:16-17  English Standard Versions (ESV).   Just as we read in God’s word yesterday; “If we deny Jesus; He will (see Matthew 10:33) deny us.  When we acknowledge Jesus and walk in His light (see Romans 8:28) all things will work together for our good.”  For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do. Hebrews 6:10  ESV.  God knows how much you love Him (see Matthew 10:42) and how you strive to imitate Jesus.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter 11.  God’s Word to Jeremiah.  Tell the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem; (see Jeremiah 11:1-10) they have conspired against their God.  God is bringing disaster on them for making offerings to Baal.   Therefor God will not hear (see Jeremiah 11:11-17) prayers made for them.  The prophet Jeremiah makes reference to the Savior Jesus (see Jeremiah 11:18-23) in words concerning his walk with God. 21 Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, and say,  “Do not prophesy in the name of the Lord, or you will die by our hand”— 22 therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: “Behold, I will punish them. The young men shall die by the sword, their sons and their daughters shall die by famine, 23 and none of them shall be left. For I will bring disaster upon the men of Anathoth, the year of their punishment.”Jeremiah 11:21-23  English Standard Versions (ESV).   If we deny Jesus; He will (see Matthew 10:33) deny us.  When we acknowledge Jesus and walk in His light (see Romans 8:28) all things will work together for our good.  33Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! Romans 11:33  ESV.  In the day that we feel God is not to be found (see Hebrews 13:5) Jesus will still be there for us.  All we have to do is (see Revelation 3:20) reach out to Jesus.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter 10.  Jeremiah contrasts the glory of God (see Jeremiah 10:1-16) versus the folly of manmade Idols.  The Jews are content living in sin (see Jeremiah 10:17-25) until the reality of the weight of their sin comes to bear on them. “25 Pour out your wrath on the nations that know you not, and on the peoples that call not on your name, for they have devoured Jacob; they have devoured him and consumed him, and have laid waste his habitation.Jeremiah 10:25  English Standard Versions (ESV).  Those that trust and love God (see Romans 8:28) will walk in His light and be secure in their salvation.  17 The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.  Zephaniah 3:17  ESV.  This is the day that the Living God has made (see Psalm 118:24) be glad and rejoice in it.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter 9.  Jeremiah is weeping (see Jeremiah 9:1-11) because of the destruction of God’s people.  Because they have forsaken God’s law (see Jeremiah 9:12-22) God will punish and scatter His people.  God tells the people not to boast in their own understanding (see Jeremiah 9:23-26) rather they should boast and glorify in God. “25 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will punish all those who are circumcised merely in the flesh— 26 Egypt, Judah, Edom, the sons of Ammon, Moab, and all who dwell in the desert who cut the corners of their hair, for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in heart.”Jeremiah 9:25-26   English Standard Versions (ESV).  There is no reason for Christians to boast in their own understanding (see 1 Thessalonians 1:5) because they gain understanding from the Holy Spirit.  5 As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.Ecclesiastes 11:5  ESV.  Because we cannot know the mind of God (see Proverbs 3:5-6) we lean on Jesus and the Holy Spirit for understanding and delivery from sin.  Let us give God the glory (see Romans 14:18) in every part of our lives.

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter 8.  The bones of their ancestors will be disturbed (see Jeremiah 8:1-3) to remind God’s people that God’s law extends past the grave.  Because they are not turning from their evil (see Jeremiah 8:4-13) God’s rewards will slip away.  People who have abandoned or denied their Lord God (see Jeremiah 8:14-22) have abandoned all hope; “22 Is there no balm in Gilead?  Is there no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored?Jeremiah 8:22  English Standard Versions (ESV).  Why in the world do those who know of God’s love deny Him?  Their deeds are evil (see John 3:19) they prefer worldly goods and riches over God’s love.  The reason they attack Jesus at every opportunity (see John 3:20) is that light exposes their evil hearts.  For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.Psalm 139:13-14 ESV.  Those of us who Love Jesus love God, and the light as well as (see Matthew 22:36-39) their neighbors.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter 7.  God continues warning Jerusalem because of their evil ways, (see Jeremiah 7:1-16) because they are trusting in religion rather than God.  Why is God telling Jeremiah not to pray for Judah and Jerusalem?  Because they are trusting in (manmade) religions (see Jeremiah 7:17-20) they deny God’s singular glory.  When God brought His people out of Egypt did He tell them to make offerings to Him? The answer is NO!  God said to them (see Jeremiah 7:21-28) Obey my voice.  They perish because they are evil and un-repentant; (see Jeremiah 7:29-34) they don’t obey God.  34 And I will silence in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride,  for the land shall become a waste.Jeremiah 7:34  English Standard Versions (ESV).  What is it that God requires of us Saints?  That we repent and turn to Jesus (see John 14:6) for salvation.  That we love God with all our hearts and minds and (see Matthew 6:19-21) love our neighbors as ourselves.  23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?  Luke 9:23-25 ESV.  We shouldn’t worry so much about (see Matthew 22:17-21) where the world is heading.  Instead we should be concentrating on (see James 4:13-15) what God is doing in our lives.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter 6.  God is warning Jerusalem because of their sin, (see Jeremiah 6:1-8) disaster from the north is imminent if they don’t repent.  Why do people who glory in sin, hate and deny God’s very existence?  The Word of God is condemning them (see Jeremiah 6:9-17) and in their ignorance they deny God.  While God is slow to anger and bring wrath (see Jeremiah 6:18-30) he will not put up with peoples sins forever.  29 The bellows blow fiercely; the lead is consumed by the fire; in vain the refining goes on, for the wicked are not removed. 30 Rejected silver they are called, for the Lord has rejected them.”Jeremiah 6:29-30  English Standard Versions (ESV).  What is it that saints give up when they repent and turn to Jesus for salvation?   They are only giving up the perishables for that which will (see Matthew 6:19-21) never perish. “38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” Acts 2:38-39 ESV.  Remember our fight is not against flesh and blood (see Ephesians 6:11-13) the spiritual forces of evil.  We continue to prayerfully read God’s Word (see Romans 10:17) because this is how we build our faith and nourish our spirit.
